In the 2+ years that I’ve been involved with social networking there’s one very clear revelation that I’ve discovered…
People are nosey!
And because of it, the way we conduct business on the internet has changed forever!
No longer is it enough to have just an email address, phone number, and maybe a picture of yourself on your website. Not if you expect to survive in this social media marketing world we live in.
Folks want to know the person behind the picture – really know them.
Because believe it or not, they are interested in YOU, not just your product or services.
They want to know about your kids, your hobbies, your likes and dislikes.
They want to know where you grew up, what schools you’ve attended, where you go on vacation.
Have you ever had someone look at you like you must be a crook – or someone to be pitied – because you are a network marketer?
A lot of people feel that way and unfortunately it’s because most don’t know any better. There’s a suspicious, sneering, turn-up your nose attitude toward network marketing that came about as the result of some pretty rotten network marketing companies. And of course there’s the mistaken belief that network marketing or MLM (multi-level-marketing) as it is also called, is some kind of pyramid scheme.
But in reality, Network Marketing is nothing more than a system which makes it possible for everyday people – like YOU and ME – to obtain unbelievable levels of financial freedom and personal rewards through persistence, concentrated effort, determination, and yes I’ll say it – hard work.
“There are 3 reasons why men fail to make the most of themselves. They do the wrong thing without profiting from their mistakes; or they attempt to do the right thing but fail to finish it; or they do nothing at all.” ~ Alfred C. Fuller, Fuller Brush Company
There’s been millions of pages written about succeeding at what you do — however, just as there is a return on the right decisions you make, there is an equally important return on the wrong decisions you make. It’s called – learning from our mistakes and hopefully, helping others avoid making the same mistakes we did.
Remember that everyone has failures in their lives, even those we might never think could fail, as evidenced by the video below.
I’ve heard my mentor, Carrie Wilkerson, say many times, “Fail fast and fail hard”.
Speaking for myself, I know that it has taken my failures to truly appreciate the successes.
Thanks for stopping by. Sharon McPherson
